Opt In/Opt Out

Q is omnipotent so the bounds of what he can do is really limited to what Duplicity allows of him. For the canon unfamiliar under normal circumstances in Star Trek Q's powers are like that of a god. He can travel around the universe and time on a whim, he can move planets and entire stars, he can create life and destroy it with a thought.

Let me know here if you're comfortable with Q using abilities on your character up to but not limited to:
  • temporary altering your character (a little monster fucking anyone?)
  • Q temporarily altering himself
  • being able to tell if you character is a little less that human
  • teleporting your character against their will
  • Q teleporting himself into their spaces uninvited
  • conjuring items temporarily (in Duplicity he can't create anything of monetary value, so anything he creates is fleeting)
  • making you hallucinate
  • anything else fun you can think up and we can plot out? (hit me with your ideas!)

If there's anything you'd specifically like Q to do to yours also let me know that too below!

Also notes for your characters as it pertains to Q (most of which don't apply if he's depowered):
  • you can't really hurt him unless he decides to allow it (although always up for discussion on this, cause city nonsense may make this not true sometimes?)
  • telepaths can't read his mind or influence him
  • he can't be sensed by any extrasensory perception unless he wants to be in which case he'd probably read like a bright overpowering beacon
  • he doesn't need food/sleep
  • he'll let vampires bite him if they wish. He might taste normal or he might let them get a little taste of the infinite power that lays beyond if he decides to do that. It may be up to his mood in the moment.

Q
"Our mission is to go forth to seek out new and different life forms,
and you certainly qualify as one of the most unique I've ever
encountered. To learn about you is, frankly, provocative.
But you're next of kin to chaos."
– Jean-Luc Picard

Name: Q
Door: Door Pass Submissive

Canon: Star Trek
Canon Point: Star Trek: Voyager Season 7, Ep 19 'Q2'

Age: over 4 billion years old
Appearance: Usually look like a normal human, but can change his appearance.

History: Wiki Here
Personality:
Negative Traits:
  • Arrogant - Because of what he is, Q believes himself better than all the lesser organisms in the universe, humans included. He is a quasi-omnipotent being, so he's not entirely wrong in that assumption, but he freely points out how simple humans and other species are at nearly ever given opportunity that he meets them. Criticizing their choices throughout history and toying with them. He may be very curious about that human race in particular, fascinated by their choices, but he still views himself as better by every measure. Enough that he feels he's right to pass judgement on them as an entire species putting them on trial on his first meeting with the Enterprise. He in some cases even views himself as better than other Q, even disagreeing with them too. Because the race was so old they'd grown quite boring in his opinion, which is part of the reason he'd decided to start toying with lesser races, to stave off his own boredom. He also joins a rebellion that starts a Civil War among the Q.
  • Judgmental - When Q met Picard and the crew of the Enterprise for the first time, he put the entire race on trial. Partly this was just a game for his own amusement, but it's something that he brings up quite frequently to Picard, that the trial never actually concluded. He views the past of humans and even their present with a lens of judgement, questioning their every choice and trying to goad them into proving his opinion in some cases. He'd given Riker the powers of a Q, to try and prove the point that humans would always seek power when given the opportunity. He was proven wrong in this, however, when Riker gave up the power.
  • Trickster- Q can derive a lot of amusement out of toying with people. Usually it's an attempt to manipulate whomever he's set his eyes on and move them around to his way of thinking. He'd started to move past this slightly the longer he's been interacting with humans, moving more toward a teaching sort of role and even taking the time to learn what the lesser species might be able to teach him. Still, he's tossed Picard and his crew into a Robin Hood fantasy, shot them across space to give them their first introduction to the Borg to prove how unprepared they were to be exploring space,  and as a way of thanking the crew of the Enterprise after regaining his powers appears with a mariachi band, makes Data feel joy, and conjures up cigars in Picard and Riker's mouths. A lot of the time Q doesn't take things nearly as seriously as Picard or Janeway or other humans he interacts think he should.
Positive Traits:
  • Inquisitive - Despite being very arrogant and assuming that the Q are far more superior than any other life form, Q still is deeply interested in other life. Humans in particular seem to catch his curiosity most of all. In his attempts to understand the human race in his still on-going 'trial', he's quite fond of them, although might not always admit it. Still, he helped Picard guiding him toward a solution when a temporal anomaly threatened the existence of humanity, admitting to helping him solve the problem, when usually Q stay out of such problems. He also seeks guidance from Janeway to help him understand how to raise his son, as he'd no experience in how to do it and she helped guide him, which is in contrast to his attempts to guide humanity.

Powers and Abilities: The Q species are god-like quasi-omnipotent beings able to do nearly anything that can be imagined (change shape, pull people from one point of time/space to another, change time, create life, etc).

However, for the purposes of this game, Q will need to be nerfed and be far less powerful (unable to alter time, create life, inter-dimensional travel, create whole new realities, etc). He won't be able to create anything that will give him a monetary advantage in-game (especially as a submissive).

But he will still be able to teleport himself with a snap, change shape (limited in size nothing monster sized), conjure some minor illusions temporarily and basically be able to do things that a wizard would be able to do in-game. I will add an opt-out on my profile if players don't want him to influence their characters (he can manipulate behaviors if he really wants to, but probably won't care to) or use his abilities on them in any way.
